Summary:
Assists with day to-day management processes to ensure organizational compliance with state, accreditation, and agency requirements for radiologic imaging and x-ray producing equipment/devices. Monitors for compliance applicable regulations in consultation with the Regional Radiation Safety Officer and coordinates with affected department heads to ensure adherence to the principles of ALARA.
Responsibilities:
• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. • Assists with the management of the radiation safety services for diagnostic radiology, cardiology, perioperative, and other medical services, primarily for dosimetry services and general radiation safety training. • Assists with the design and management of the radiation safety programs. • Assists with establishing, maintaining and auditing policies and procedures. • Ensures radiation is used safely in accordance with approved policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements so that the program adequately protects radiation workers, faculty, staff, students, patients, visitors and the public. • The Assistant RSO performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of policies and procedures as set by Administration, Radiation Safety Committee, and all applicable state and federal law. • The Assistant RSO has the authority to enforce radiation policies and procedures regarding radiation safety and regulatory compliance of the use of ionizing radiation. • The Assistant RSO shall have access to any radiation producing area at all times for inspection. • Has basic computer knowledge. • Performs other duties as assigned.
