The Director of Pharmacy will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Pharmacy Operations team, but will also serve as the enterprise expert in guiding other key areas to create an “inventory” management system and clinical operations. The Director will lead the day-to-day of pharmacy operations, building a comprehensive enterprise strategy for pharmacies and center-level med rooms and will be responsible for analyzing pharmacy data, identifying quality improvement and cost containment opportunities, and ensuring pharmacies and med rooms operate with strict operating discipline that delivers consistently high-quality results and outcomes across the enterprise.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates inventory management philosophy and strategy that can be applied to many areas across the enterprise
- Leads day-to-day pharmacy operations to ensure high-quality medication delivery to patients with low tolerance for errors, high degree of accuracy, and speed to medication dispensing.
- Oversees purchasing, inventory, order processing, utilization, distribution of products and services, ensuring services are in compliance with professional quality standards, state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Monitors, evaluates and presents pharmacy data including monthly reporting of trends for drug utilization and drug costs.
- Develops, implements, improves, and enforces policies and procedures to promote appropriate, safe and cost-effective medication use.
- Partners with matrixed stakeholders to deliver strategic guidance and pharmacy-specific support.
- Oversees enterprise-wide pharmacy and med room staffing, and ensures training, development, communication, discipline of all pharmacy staff. Maintains staffing levels within established guidelines as needed.
- Creates regular reporting packages for all inventory-related services across the enterprise.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:·
- Experience in building and managing inventory management systems; particularly in atypical inventory systems thinking.
- Strong leadership capacity to lead a team – focusing not only on driving results and execution, but also creating the structure, system, processes, and roles for the team to have clear responsibilities, measurable goals, and consistent accountability to be successful.
- High personal accountability for achieving results, high energy, and strong drive to develop him/herself while constantly improving our business model.
- Ability to effectively manage in a matrixed organization – including the enterprise thinking, partnering across organizational boundaries, and ability to influence without direct authority to drive initiatives and outcomes.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; spoken and written fluency in English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Health Administration, Business Economics, Pharmacy or a closely related field; additional experience above the minimum will be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis required
- MBA or Master’s degree in Healthcare or Public Administration or a related discipline preferred
- Minimum Five (5) years of clinical experience
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience with pharmacy inventory management or process improvement in a health care delivery setting or equivalent experience
