The Senior Own Brands Sourcing Manager will lead vendor sourcing initiatives to ensure BJ's delivers top-tier Own Brands products that align with our member-centric goals, profitability, and operational objectives. This role requires a profound understanding of vendor processes, costing drivers, production capabilities, and commercialization for perishable product categories. Collaborative efforts with various BJ's teams will be pivotal to execute a project roadmap that drives both top and bottom-line growth for BJ’s Own Brands
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, engage, and develop sourcing strategies with vendors ensuring they meet our rigorous quality, profitability requirements and ethical standards.
- Stakeholder Partnerships: Partner with the Own Brands Manager, Quality Assurance Team, and Merchant teams to understand the strategic initiatives of the business and define a sourcing strategy that meets the needs of our members and our business.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and sustain robust, long-standing relationships with vendors to advance mutual financial and partnership objectives. Systematically manage the vendor matrix to support current and prospective product requirements, risk management, and operational needs.
- Cost Management: Gather bid data, analyze submissions and develop award recommendations in collaboration with stakeholders to Own Brands and Merchandising leadership. Spearhead initiatives to realize cost savings while ensuring product quality is never compromised.
- Project Timeline Oversight: Manage and track project milestones and deliverables. Proactively identify potential delays or issues, and work with the cross functional team to develop contingency plans ensuring projects remain on schedule and within the predefined scope and financial goals. Communicate timely updates to stakeholders and realign resources as necessary to meet project objectives.
- Market Analysis: Regularly monitor and report on industry trends, competitor products, and potential new sourcing opportunities.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations by identifying and negotiating vendor terms that encapsulate the business priorities. Identify areas for improvement, develop action plans and negotiate outcomes that positively impact the business.
- Operational Collaboration: Works closely with the planning and allocation team to understand their needs and objectives and identify solutions for any emergent operational challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 7+ Years of international or domestic sourcing or merchandising experience
- Significant negotiations experience
- Track record of driving exceptional results in a cross functional environment
- Strong analytical and financial skills
- Working knowledge of product manufacturing
- Strong curiosity, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills – thrives in a team environment
- Project management skills
- Exceptional prioritization ability focused on delivering against most important outcomes and influencing key stakeholders
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $122,500.00.
