Overview
Our Client is a long-term holding company investing in the acquisition of swimming pool companies across the United States. This year, they have acquired their first business in NW Indiana, and have multiple targets in the pipeline as they grow through acquisition. Our client is a leading full-service pool company specializing in new construction, service and retail. They have over 40 years of servicing NW Indiana and SW Michigan.
We are actively recruiting a Director of Construction who will oversee all aspects of pool construction projects from contract signing to completion. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of construction and renovation processes, the ability to manage a small team, and multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with construction/superintendent experience and a passion for outdoor recreation to join a growing company.
You Will Be Responsible for
Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with sales, employees, subcontractors, customers and suppliers to ensure all project components are aligned.
- Team Management: Lead and supervise construction teams, providing clear instructions and guidance. Ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities and project goals.
- Quality Control: Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues promptly.
- Budget Management: Track project expenses and manage budgets effectively. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Report Work In Progress on a weekly basis to leadership and financial team.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status. Address any client concerns and ensure their vision is being met.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are obtained.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports. Prepare and present project status reports to senior management.
- This role is 75% office based and 25% field based.

What You Have
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in construction project management. Experience in pool construction is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations related to pools (plus).
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate construction teams. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications in pool construction are highly desirable.
