As a Software Development Manager on the AWS PrivateLink team you will help simplify private access to any resources making it “just work” for our customers.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager that will be responsible for leading a group of talented engineers in the ongoing mission to bring the control plane to the next generation of scale. We grow with our customers, and you will be leading to make that a reality. You will have an opportunity to effect change and impact for all of AWS. This is an exciting problem space that is just getting started. You can be in on the ground floor. A successful candidate is experienced in leading a team of deeply technical engineers. You, the candidate, must have proven skills as a leader that delivers on business objectives, prioritizes work, and influences partner teams. You will establish goals for your team and focus attention on the most important inputs to drive the desired business outcomes. You know how to grow the team by hiring, investing in people, and developing talent from within. You enable your team with the development and support of existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our customer demands. Your knowledge of software development and architecture will be key to ensure we meet our challenges from the user experience through to our data layer at Amazon scale utilizing AWS services. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- 3+ years of experience owning 24x7x365 service operations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
