We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.The AWS Mercury ADC Operations team is seeking highly motivated engineers who are focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations, have a good understanding of Linux, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. We need engineers who understand how to think big, and simplify solutions to complex problems; all the while ensuring that our customers continue to have the best experience possible.You are able to lead a project, delivering on schedule even when the initial problem is not well defined. You identify when ADC implementations are not highly available, performant, secure, stable, instrumented, maintainable, or have defects. You identify long term or systemic risks and can create both short-term and long-term sustainable mitigations plans. You can evaluate trade-offs in decision making which consider complexity, two-way and one-way doors, and technical risk. You proactively drive preventative measures and resolve, mitigate, or escalate operational concerns in a timely manner. You have a breadth and depth of understanding in relevant industry standard technology areas, for example operating systems, hardware, software, security, or networking. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.Key job responsibilitiesThe specific CP ADC Operations responsibilities for this role are:- Support CP MVP on-call- Identify and pursue opportunities for operational excellence and automation- Respond to and resolve MVP customer issues- Resolve operational tickets- Support the execution of various campaigns (i.e., blocked software, host patching, etc) in the MVP regions on behalf of CP service teams- Collaborate with CP service team engineers to build CP services in the MVP regions as part of CP’s effort to bring its stacks to commercial parity- Support other parity program activities such as data migration, client migration, and cutover on behalf of CP service teamsA day in the lifeOn a "typical" day, our engineers may dive deep into customer issues, service interdependencies and region specific configurations to find the root of a problem. Engineers also need to be able to investigate why a metric or system variances is trending in the wrong direction, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.About the teamThe Mercury ADC Operations team supports customer sign up, bill computation, pricing, metering, discounts, cost insights, security, and fraud prevention services for AWS customers. The Mercury ADC Operations team is focused on enabling AWS as a whole the capability to build, interpret and process trillions of commerce events per day, often bundled with low-latency/real-time analysis to enable security and fraud detection..Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree, or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)- 5+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).- 5+ years of experience working with scripting languages.- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
