Network Development Engineers partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) is the backbone that connects the globalAWS network. Focused on controlling the internet traffic that allows users to access their informationand applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is responsible for building anddesigning a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between datacenters and customers.Key job responsibilitiesNetwork Development Engineers perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation.• Your core job responsibility is to design network designs, services and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.• Together, you and your leadership team will decide on the projects that best support your team’s mission.• You and your team will design ahead of customer or technology needs, always predicting and solving for problems that have not yet occurred. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience- 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience- 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience- Associate's degree, or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years industry experience in a similar environment e.g ISP, peering and exchange, and large (IP) carrier networks.- Background in high availability, global backbone design and architecture is highly preferred.- Strong Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, shell, C or C++ is desirable, SDN is a reality in AWS Networking. Daily activities will involve applying networking knowledge to SDN and Network Automation tools.- Understanding of Hardware Load Balancers in a large data center environment- Expert-level certifications (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE) a huge plus.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market.
