We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.The Worldwide Sustainability ESG Reporting team is looking for a detail focused, results-oriented and collaborative individual to support Amazon’s global ESG disclosure processes. This individual will work cross functionally to understand our ESG programs and key metrics so that they can scale our regulatory ESG reporting infrastructure. You will be responsible for delivering Amazon’s regulatory ESG reports in a rapidly evolving global regulatory environment. This will involve establishing external reporting processes, collecting key metrics from partner teams, drafting disclosures, preparing benchmarking and presenting the results to senior leadership on legal, accounting and finance teams. Your experience in delivering reports under existing regulations will also help Amazon prepare for compliance with emerging regulations including the proposed SEC Rule on Climate-Related Disclosures, CSRD/ESRS, the EU Taxonomy and ISSB. You will work cross functionally with worldwide sustainability, legal and finance to ensure disclosures are clear, transparent, and provide the right level of context to users of the information. To do well in this role, you must be able to confidently handle complex projects and provide a point of view in situations of high ambiguity. You must also show good judgment and continually improve Amazon’s business model, and emerging ESG reporting requirement best practices. Key job responsibilities- Prepare Amazon to deliver existing and future regulatory reports in multiple jurisdictions around the world. - Design and implement enhanced governance mechanisms to ensure adequate oversight and control over ESG reporting. - Provide requirements to sustainability technology team to help automate mandatory ESG reporting processes.- Prepare Benchmarking of voluntary and regulatory disclosures across environmental, social and governance topics.- Analyze ESG performance against key goals. Draft performance narratives in partnership with the finance and accounting teams.- Work with worldwide sustainability subject matter experts to understand our calculation methodology, and draft transparent disclosures for inclusion in our voluntary and regulatory ESG reporting. These disclosures will need to meet the requirements of external reviewers and will provide a transparent summary of Amazon’s criteria and methodology used to calculate key metrics (i.e. Net zero, 100% Renewable Energy, GHG emissions, waste, water usage, diversity). BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum 8 years of experience working in ESG reporting, corporate social responsibility, social impact, financial reporting, or legal fields. - Experience creating new disclosures in accordance with specific criteria (i.e. US GAAP, ISSB/SASB, GHG protocol) - Ability to create and execute an ESG disclosure strategy that aligns with the needs of various stakeholders. - Experience understanding complex transactions and creating clear and transparent disclosures for external consumption. - Deep understanding of ESG reporting criteria such as the GHG protocol, and also the underlying assumptions that support common ESG targets such as net zero, 100% renewable energy etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with external reporting solutions such as Workiva.- Ability to apply strategic thinking and demonstrate understanding of requirements to execute.- Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in an agile environment.- Works effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.- Experience simplifying processes and creating detailed technical requirements for automation. - Experience directly performing independent third-party assurance or managing external audit firms. - - Deep understanding of the emerging ESG regulatory environment (Proposed SEC Rule on Climate-Related Disclosures, CSRD/ESRS, EU taxonomy). The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market.
