Essential Functions:The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying patient's insurance coverage and obtaining authorization for requested services, ensuring that claims will be processed correctly, and handling insurance-related inquiries. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist communicates with insurance companies, patients and health care providers to obtain necessary information and resolve issues related to insurance coverage. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist may function as a billing specialist and will follow uniform billing procedures and practices according to Medicare, Medicaid, 3rd party payers, and private pay in accordance with the HIM-11 guidelines.
