The Opportunity

What You’ll Work On
Serve as a Strategic Leader within the Technical Solution Design (TSD) team to build a best-in-class technical team that covers our Core Diagnostics portfolio, including Lab Systems / Automation, Informatics, Workflow and Consulting lines of business.
- This position will develop, create, and design strategies for the most complex and largest customer base, such as key strategic customers and national/regional health systems.
- Responsible for the management of multiple TSD “pods”, with responsibility of creating an environment of professional growth.
- Work with the TSD Senior Manager to develop training programs, creation of technical materials with marketing and Request for Proposal (RFP) bid team, and maintenance of team regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, coordinating the tactical technical solution design (TSD) in clinical laboratory instrumentation through advanced analytical and product knowledge assessments.
- Utilize and develop analytical tools and strategies that will increase instrument placements, while maintaining USO profitability goals, manages and coordinates a multitude of interrelated workflow project activities within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure their successful completion.
- The Analytical/Instrumentation Specialist will play a strategic role and communicate with peers, senior sales management and IACC to recommend strategies for ADD's US organization.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Abbott’s instrumentation and automation products to include preanalytical, analytical and post analytic solutions.
- Primary job will be to analyze user data, gather customer requirements, design an integrated, scalable, and comprehensive solution to improve outcomes for clinical diagnostic healthcare customers.
- Work closely with the Automation and Workflow lead to analyze customer data and provide guidance and recommendations on solution design.
- Develop strategic sales strategies that leverage Abbott’s unique differentiation in the laboratory instrumentation and automation market.
- Expertise in creating and presenting custom designed solutions and leveraging the importance and value proposition to internal and external customers.
- Work with Area senior management and their direct management to develop qualified prospect lists to assess demand and prioritize accounts and engagements.
- Lead team of sales professionals in highly complex customer environments where higher levels of automation, instrumentation and informatics solutions may be required; or where multi-site or matrixed costumer decision making is in effect.
- Activities include RFI/RFP assistance as it relates to technical data, solution development, pricing, value creation and customer meetings and presentations. Serve as a subject matter expert.
- Display leadership in mentoring and coaching fellow team members to continue the advancement of skills throughout the team.
- The Analytics and Instrumentation Specialist will need to lead both entry level territory sales professionals; and, higher level employees such as IDN managers (US); and Product Specialists.
- As the Division’s subject matter experts (SMEs) on laboratory workflow analytics and instrumentation; responsible for educating others in their associated commercial teams on the various technical areas of clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology instrumentation and data analytics.
- There will be a significant element of training and coaching so their knowledge can be shared and drilled down into the organization Build and maintain effective long-term relationships with internal and external customers.
- Manage and support sales objectives and customer satisfaction to grow the business. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical laboratory design specialty automation and workflow.
- Display leadership in mentoring and coaching team members to continue the advancement of technical skills.
Accountability and Scope:
- Reports to Regional Manager, Technical Solutions Design
- Collaborates with US sales organization, project management office, implementation service specialists.
- Customer responsibility primarily spans through Northeast US states.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in:
- Selling technical products, services, installations, and configurations of automated diagnostics systems, laboratory automation systems, and system integrations
- Clinical laboratory science and laboratory operations and workflows
- Modifying informatics, laboratory middleware, and automation software; or conducting data analyses and utilizing data mining software specific to instrumentation and automation
- Strong leadership and management skills

The base pay for this position is $83,000.00 – $166,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
