The Opportunity
The Manager, Global Security Operations Center leads the Global Communications Center located at Abbott Park, IL, and will also have responsibility for program development and management for the Global Communications Center, as directed by the Director of Crisis Management.
- The manager in this role will have the opportunity to grow the existing program and must ensure timely and effective results in collaboration with other Global Security functions as well as other internal key stakeholders.
- Directly responsible for strategically implementing the Global Communications Center (GCC) program based in Lake County, IL, which includes adapting the current staffing model, standards, procedures, training, and drilling to reflect the growing scope of the program and systems. Serves as shift supervisor and supervisor of the other shift supervisors.
- Directs GCC staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining processes and systems to identify risks, respond to incidents, and effectively communicate with Global Security stakeholders and leadership, risk partners, and Abbott employees during crisis events.
- Partners with Global Security functions and other internal key stakeholders to develop and deliver services and systems that enable the GCC to serve as the central hub for security incident reporting and assessment, and crisis event escalation and communication.
- Maintains key performance indicators, metrics, and measurable risk data, that not only track GCC program performance, but also help identify security and other global event risks to Abbott facilities, businesses, and people.
- Recruits, develops, and retains communications analysts for the GCC team.
- Provides coaching and performance feedback for direct reports
- Oversees management of various administrative functions, including, but not limited to, scheduling of non-exempt personnel.
- Partners with Security Operations on directing activities of contracted staff, including GSOC Communications Analysts and dispatch of Lake County Security Services.
- Serves on and/or leads departmental and cross-functional teams/committees as needed.
- Works collaboratively with, and provides GCC subject matter expertise to, Global Security functions including, but not limited to: Risk Intelligence, Crisis Management, Protective Services, Regional Security, Security Operations, and Security Systems.
- Manages competing priorities, including concurrent security events, by directing and allocating personnel resources, and escalating to senior leadership and stakeholders as necessary.
- Time management and continuous task prioritization is crucial to delivering timely support services in this dynamic, fast paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 7 years of related work experience
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible security experience required; in a corporate security environment preferred.
- Security operations center or other 24/7 operations management experience required.
- Solid understanding of operator usage of access control, video management, mass notification, and critical event management systems required; existing systems’ proficiency and/or certification preferred.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills with an ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high stress situations; Microsoft Office skills required.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
