The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location within our Global Engineering Services division.
As the Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for the facility engineering support of Abbott facilities, including Office, Laboratory and Manufacturing space. This position must effectively lead multi-discipline teams supporting multiple Abbott divisions in a manner that provides innovative and cost-effective facilities that meet Corporate Guidelines/Standards. Responsible for LBE process, financial reporting as well as financial internal controls and overall financial support of initiatives and programs, Capital projects are an integral function of this position.
What You'll Work On:
Drive Strategic Initiatives and Programs: Evaluate and provide recommendations on operational objectives and cost reductions to drive vision and long-term strategy. Support execution of key strategic programs, corporate initiative action plans and related results. Ensure key initiatives, programs and related business cases are presented with complete and reliable financials.
Deliver Meaningful Financial Forecasts: Ensure short and long-term financial forecasts are presented in a meaningful way. Develop and implement processes to deliver clear and consistent forecasting and reporting of the organization’s cost and value. Foresee potential opportunities/risk and prepare contingency plans in advance.
Ensure Accurate Financial Reporting and Compliance: Review and analyze financial results as provided by Finance Team. Provide clear and meaningful financial reporting with support of the Finance Team. Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
Site Facility Support:
Communicate with customers on a daily basis.
Provide emergency response to manufacturing/laboratory and office facility issues resulting in employee safety issues, outages, building damage or disruptions to production.
Work closely with Corporate Maintenance on facility maintenance issues.
Address facility problems and implement projects to support office & manufacturing spaces.
Keep facilities in a state of readiness for audits by regulatory agencies.
Prepare and implement a facility long range plan for inclusion in the division’s Long Range Plan and Capital Plan.
Serve as coordinator liaison with all project teams with activity in the facility. Facility Engineer will be main point of contact for any activities in the facility.
Control and maintain Facility Expense budget for assigned buildings or systems.
Maintain a high degree of accountability for the execution of facilities project activity, including communications, budget and schedule.
Keep all project commitments current by analyzing workload and securing the necessary resources to meet facilities management requirements and capital plan execution.
Assure compliance with all federal, state, local, and/or international codes as well as corporate standards and specifications.
Identify key clients across area of responsibility and establish a direct, professional relationship with each.
Understanding of GMP manufacturing process and regulations
Develop and distribute written communications for facility related activities.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 8+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
A post-graduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
Possesses a strong technical knowledge (construction or maintenance related work) and application of concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to building repairs and process improvements.
Possess experience and ability to work on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors. Exercises judgment and advises management as to the appropriate actions and impacts to costs and production to achieve the best desired outcome.
Interacts well with diverse groups including engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
Preferred Qualifications:
Solid business partnering and strategic thinking skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work across functions and organizations in a global environment.
Engineering and project management experience
Excellent communication skills with all levels and functions; capable of presenting complex project and financial information in easy-to-understand formats and terms
Operate independently and adaptable to changing requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
