The Opportunity
In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
What You’ll Work On
The Executive Clinical Specialist is responsible for being a technical leader, in the top 10% of all Abbott Clinical Employees. They provide expert consulting, teaching, and support for electrophysiologists on the EnSite Mapping System and its appropriate application in the clinical setting. The Executive Clinical Specialist is a significant driver of business within their Area and is a mentor to Principle and Senior Clinical Specialists. They are expected to provide consulting to customers on the complete EP product line. They provide collaboration with Area Vice Presidents and Regional Sales Directors to develop business at Strategic Accounts within each Area. They participate in the sales and marketing process and is responsible for ensuring all new accounts are established in accordance with Abbott’s EP Division’s educational and in-service specific objectives and that ongoing product utilization is encouraged when necessary or requested through in-lab support and consultation with the EP and other lab support personnel. They serve in a “Lead” capacity for other clinical employees in the region.
- Manages regional training budgets as directed by the Regional Sales Director and Area Vice President to ensure goals are accomplished through fiscal responsibility.
- Maximizes revenue opportunity through demonstrated consultative selling of a broad range of EP products at Strategic Accounts within each sales Region and Area.
- Works with marketing and education to develop and provide formal training and education to electrophysiologists and their staff on the use of the EnSite Mapping System.
- Works with marketing and education to develop and provide formal training and education to electrophysiologists and their staff on the use of the Claris Recording System and Viewmate Ultrasound System.
- Demonstrates a thorough command of EnSite System related product and technical knowledge; cardiac mapping, ablation techniques, anatomy, and clinical science.
- Provides expert clinical consultation on the use of our system to the EP, and lab support staff.
- Coordinates all necessary logistics related to hospital training for new and existing accounts.
- Takes a leadership role in ensuring employees in region are well developed and Abbott is well-positioned to take share at strategic accounts within their area.
- Initiates, develops, expands, and maintains excellent customer rapport and relationships.
- Initiates new training courses, while keeping a clinically based "consultative approach" the primary goal.
- Participates in on-site procedure observations to ensure new product launches and evaluations are successful, utilization is encouraged, customer and personal technical knowledge is enhanced, and customer rapport is developed.
Required Qualifications
- Masters or Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- IBHRE EP “Board Certified” or equivalency required.
- Minimum 6-10 years experience in cardiac electrophysiology and experience mentoring or managing other employees.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
